Titles Experimentation

Titles Experimentation

We went onto Adobe Premier and began experimenting more with fonts and the style we wished to incorporate into our film. Because we wanted a Sci-fi feel we felt that we should emulate the previous poster designs we had uploaded. After our experimentation we were not happy with the results because none gave the authentic feel we wanted. We further decided to experiment into the spacing of words and the thickness of the text, as the majority of Sci-Fi films have thin and spaced out lettering in their opening credit sequences or posters. We where more pleased with this result but after spacing we did not think the font suited the style we wanted. Next time we are going to investigate further into making our font more dynamic and going up to the selection bar and selecting the thinnest font style possible.

Grid Script

EXT-Village- Evening

The sun is slowly falling and creating an atmospheric effect on the grey pavement. In shot is a lonesome boy walking home to his parents’ house. He is expressionless but seems tired after his long day at school. We only see his back but we can see all of the nature that surrounds him.

He makes himself tea and we see him turn on various lights and appliances while he is doing this. The music picks up as titles appear.

INT-living room-evening

A blue tint lurks in the air as the teenage boy plays his hours away on his XBOX. He is unaware of how boring the game is and as an audience we become aware of his involvement inside this murderous game. The camera moves closer to reveal the boys monotonous stare at the screen.

CUT to a sudden surge in the electricity. The light flickers and the TV screen go black. The boy looks around to realise he is left alone and stranded in the manufactured world.

CUT to a clock ticking on the wall, we fade to see the clock change time to show how long the boy has been without power.

CUT to see the boy lying on the sofa with a bored expression on his face. He looks down to his phone and turns it on. He hopes he can call his parents. However as he begins to type the phone number the phone dies on him. He chucks the phone away in anger and sits there unsure of what to do next.

CUT to a sudden blue light flowing throughout the hallway. The boy tilts his head up to see the light piercing through his front door. He gets up and begins to walk through the corridor. He stops by a mirror which reflects him and his final decision to confront the light. He edges forward and we see his feet slowly crawl towards the door. A sudden light erupts from the door and a flash of white light erupts onto the screen.TITLES.

Review of our test shoot

Review of our Test Shoot

For our second test shoot we all took roles in a diverse range roles such as cinematographer, Lighting and Director. We decided to change the position of the character in order to create more enigma with the character. Also the audience will feel more connected to the protagonist because he is in a wider space surrounding him conveying him as isolated and lonely.
After an hour of shooting Tori had to leave early so we had to do a lighting shot with the two of us. My favorite shot was one which involved our protagonist lying down on the sofa and looking at his phone. We used the reflector I had bought earlier and the light to create a white unnatural look which made the light on the actors face more prominent. Lucie then titles the reflector to block any light coming in from the light to show the phone dying off camera. this was discovered on set and was an effective technique which will be coupled with the SFX of a phone dying.
